Finally Friday! I’ve had the most intense week, which also featured a bonding trip out of town with mye fellow The Voice mentors, Yousef from Madcon, Lene Marlin and Morten Harket. We had a great time at Refsnes Gods, and I got to try really fine wine for the first time (so far, the only fancy drink I’ve tried is fine vodka. There’s no fine wines in the club.) So apparently, I’m a wine person now!
This weekend I’m headed back on the road, and will visit Trysil for a show. Since it’s the first weekend of easter, I’m hoping for a great turn out.
When you earn most of your money on gigs, like I do, you’re on the road very often. When you’re on the road that much, you’d like every place you visit to feel a little homey. And that’s why the rider was invented. The little things you need to make you feel a little better about being away from home. I’m not going to lie, it’s also a lot about alcohol.
I’ll let you in on my secret rider. I think the most important thing on my rider is the Kinder Egg. It’s tasty and keeps my Tour Manager busy for hours. Secondly, I need Red Bull. I don’t like to drink alcohol until after I’ve performed, so the Red Bull is essential to get me going. Third, I need towels (I sweat a lot, ew), and tooth brush and tooth paste. Those are like the main things that I need. I’ll admit, I might be a little vain, so to me feeling good equals performing well.
Other stuff I have on there is Prosecco and orange juice (so I can take Villa Mimosa with me everywhere), vodka, beer – you know, the usual stuff. Fun fact: I also have salsa on my rider, for internal joke reasons, but not tortilla chips. But everywhere I go, I still het tortilla chips. I guess people think I’ve made a mistake on my rider, and it makes me feel extra taken care of.
